Unfortunately some of you may have heard of Appomattox, VA in the news a few months
back due to the tragic shooting deaths of 3 of our students and 2 entire families
(not school-related). The family of one of the victims returned her overdue
library book and I simply was dumbfounded that she would even got to the trouble in
the midst of her grief. I was telling the PE teacher and she happened to mention
that she had some goals the student had written so we dug through the trash and
found a return envelope and mailed them to her family. She got a reply from her
101 year old great grandmother, the only living female relative left!
