I also was wondering why the school was not having a certified
substitute.

Oh Carol,
I must say your message has hit a nerve with me. Have you not been
reading the posts about "True Librarians" losing their jobs? I know
you
are concerned about having a temp cover your library while being away,
and perhaps librarians are few and far between in the Philippines, but
a
year is a substantial length of time. I would insist that a certified
librarian fill your role. Having a newborn in the library? I don't
know,
but if that is the only way your library can continue running, I might
have an older student run it instead. Maybe I missed something here,
and
I don't mean to offend, but librarians ARE professionals.

Subject: Library Lessons

Hi!
I know that there have been hits about this and I
checked the archives, but am always looking for new and
exciting sources.
I am going to be on missionary furlough next year so
will be gone from my school for the year. I do have a
mother who is willing to come and fill in as the
librarian, but she is very nervous about teaching the
classes and doesn't want this to just turn into a "check
out books and read stories" type time.
I have some ideas on websites and books that I am
leaving behind for her, but I want to leave even more so
if someone has some great sites that they use with library
lessons would you please share? Also--if you have a truly
brilliant book that I can perhaps find in the US and send
her that would be good also. As I said, I do have some but
I just want to leave her as much as humanly possible since
she will be here with her brand new baby at least part of
the time and the less time she has to spend on planning on
the lessons, the better for her.

Thanks in advance for everyone's help.
