For some writing I am doing I am searching for synonymous terms for sayings that indicate a person has experienced or has come to a difficult spot in their existence, such as "bump in the road." If you have an expression used in your family/part of the country -- I'd like to have it with the origin OR If you know of a site or reference where such a list might be found, either would be very helpful.
