I am posting this target for an elementary librarian in my district: "I am interested in other schools' policies on overdue and damaged books. I believe it is our job as librarians to get books into students' hands, but I also believe it is our job to teach responsibility and citizenship. Also, what is your administrative support on this policy? Were administrators involved in developing the policy and do they enforce it evenly or just on students whose parents do not say anything about a fine or overdue notice? I am a little frustrated of being the bad guy in the situation and would like broad input on this issue. Thank you."
