Hello, thank you to everyone who responded to my question. I found some really 
great books and many of which are listed below.  Many of you responded with Matt 
Christopher which look great. Another series I found is called Gym Shorts (Five 
titles - Basketball Bats, Goof-off Goalie etc) that looked pretty good.  They are 
written by Betty Hicks and have a 2.0-3.2 reading level and a K-3rd interest level.

Matt Christopher has books that are simple and chapter.  Look for Soccer cats by 
Christopher

Matt Christopher has some early reader chapter books that my kids really enjoy.  
Some titles include Baseball Pals, The Dog that Called the Signals, and The Dog 
that Stole Football Plays.

Fred Bowen-----series is called All-star Sport story.  Dan Gutman--series is called 
Baseball Card Adventure.

Dan Gutman Million Dollar Shot (Kick, Putt, etc.)

Phil Bildner has a series that is young sports called The Barnstormers.
