Today's digital divide is socio-economic. I am concerned about kids who have
little or no computer or online access except at school, and then are
stymied by draconian rules about what they "can" and "cannot do" at school,
and further hampered by restrictive filters. Are schools still banning kids
from Internet use for personal interests like sports, hobbies, and/or other
personal interests? Are filters still banning sites that have anything to do
with any kind of game, including learning games? Kids with computers at home
can always enjoy their access after school hours, but not kids who do not
have home computers, Internet, and sometimes even electricity. Along with
any bad news reports, I would love to hear some success stories about how
school librarians and teachers are helping bridge this gap. To this end I
have created a survey in Survey Monkey and would be most grateful for
responses. Yes, I will share results. Here is the address:

Thanks in advance, mabell
