Besides the excellent points others have made regarding balance, I'd just like to mention that Eric Carle himself has a fabulous webpage: http://www.ericcarle.com/ in addition to the museum which I'm sure is also fabulous. In today's technology rich environment, I feel it is important for librarians and teachers to utilize the internet to open up the walls of the library. By visiting author sites, for example, students can strengthen their connection to and understanding of authors. Without this tool, students may never make the same sort of connection and branch out to read other titles by the same author or interact with characters from those books. I hope we all are able to weed out the bad and maintain the good for our student's use and enjoyment.
