[LM_NET] ELEM: Book Suggetion needed

I have a 5th grade teacher who has a difficult student who has been bounced back 
and forth between mom and dad.  He has major behavior problems probably because of 
being insecure about anyone loving and wanting him. The other students are afraid 
to befriend him thus he often acts out against them .
 
The teacher has made a "crack in his armor" and wants to do a whole class reading 
of a book with a character who has dealt with a difficult family situation and 
possibly sabotages potential  friendships.  It would also be helpful if the main 
character is male.  
 
Any suggestions of a grade appropriate title for this situation???
