Actually this is a no hit! I received many requests to post a hit on my
request for ideas for using centers in the library. Unfortunately I didn't
get any other responses. Sorry folks. I think the number of requests I
received for a hit means that this is something that lots of people are
interested in!

Sorry,
Karen

Since 904 is "Collected accounts of events", that is probably why your
vendor put it there. I checked with my public library and they have it in
904. The LOC also has it in 904.

I would put it there unless the focus is more on the Math, but if the
emphasis is the disasterss all over the world, then it should be in 904.

Happy Groundhog day all,

I have a book "Megadisasters: The science of predicting the next
catastrophe" by Florin Diacu. The book talks about the types of disasters,
how they impact people, and how scientists are coming up with mathematical
models to try to predict the next disaster and uses examples of earthquakes,
climate changes, and the financial crisis. The MARC records I got from the
vendor put it into 904, but I feel like it should be in the 500s somewhere,
but I'm not sure where. Does anyone have this in their collection?

Just a little revision on my request for Jewish resources. I am mainly
looking for nonfiction books. I'll still collect about fiction books, but
the teachers will be reading a Holocaust book for March is Reading Month
("Number the Stars" by Lois Lowry and "The Boy in the Striped Pajamas" by

Thank you!

Dear Colleagues,

The father of one of my students is looking for some books he read as a boy. He
remembers it was only about 3 books long, but the books involved boys (teens) who
did things around the community involving scientific instruments. One book in
particular involved seismic machinery. Any ideas?

Thanks so much for your time!

Subject: HIT: YouTube copyright

This answer seems to sum it up pretty well:

"YouTube has its copyright guidelines here:
http://www.youtube.com/t/howto_copyright
It's pretty much an honor system with procedures in place for egregious
violations. As long as the YouTube content is supporting face-to-face
instruction and is not being copied or redistributed, fair use applies."

Original Question - what procedures are in place to assure users
of YouTube that they are not violating copyright? A teacher wants
to use some clips in class for teaching. I directed him to TeacherTube
(which has link to United Streaming) but in the meantime, any one know?
I will also look at the site itself, but in case one of you has
already checked it out....
