I work at an all boys high school and am interested in starting an after school book club for students. I see a good number of young men reading the fiction books I purchase and think that a book club might be a good way to promote reading for pleasure and even help these young men develop some leadership and communication skills. Has anyone had success running a book club in a high school environment? In a all male environment? If so, can you give me any advise on how to promote the club and how to run a successul meeting. Maybe even some thought on what not to do would be helpful too! Any help will be greatly appreciated.
