I was just visiting Chris Cheng's blog http://www.chrischengauthor.blogspot.com/ to check out what he is up to and I discovered a link to PaperTigers http://www.papertigers.org/ which is a website about young readers' books with a special focus on the Pacific Rim and South Asia. They are beginning a new initiative called Spirit of the Paper Tigers which aims to donate a selection of books which reflect the aims of PaperTigers, and put them into the hands of children in areas of need in different parts of the world: http://www.papertigers.org/ptOutreach/spt/index.html If you are building up your collection of books to encourage younger readers to think of the wider world, then the annotated booklist (with reviews and interviews) for this year is at http://www.papertigers.org/ptOutreach/spt/2010BookSet.html Titles include First Come the Zebra - Lynne Barasch Lee & Low, 2009.
