I want to thank everyone who responded with some very creative ideas for my part on the float or St. Patrick's Day Parade: Original Post: I have been told that our school will be in the St. Patrick's Day Parade, (Not NYC, but Scranton, PA) and my little library will be represented. I need some creative ideas for my spot on the float. I thought of a few things, but I know I will get by with a little help from my friendsJ Responses: ........................................................................ ........................................................................ ......................... reading brings us "the Luck of the Irish"- ........................................................................ ........................................................................ ......................... How about a large cardboard box (like a washer or dryer size) that is painted to look like an open book? You could title it with "The Luckiest Leprechaun" by Justine Korman or "The Elves and the Shoemaker" by Grimm or some other Irish connected book. Then YOU could dress as the character and pop out from the book. May be too time consuming and far out, but that's what I got. ........................................................................ ........................................................................ ......................... Why not go with the ALA Green theme of "Read, Renew, Return" :) ........................................................................ ........................................................................ ......................... What about something along the lines of "Reading Never Grows Old" and have people riding on the float dressed like different book characters, especially those that never grow old, like Peter Pan. Just a thought. ........................................................................ ........................................................................ ......................... How about a giant book with students dressed up as characters. I'd put a white sheet over a rectangular frame and paint it to look like a cover. ........................................................................ ........................................................................ .........................
