[LM_NET] Share: Author visit with Toni Buzzeo

Dear LM_Net Colleagues,
 
I had the privilege this week of hosting author Toni Buzzeo at my school in Tampa, 
Florida.  I wanted to tell you that if you are considering hiring an author, I 
would recommend Ms. Buzzeo without reservation.
 
The author of more than ten books, including the recently released "No T-Rex in the 
Library," Toni was here for two days, speaking to each grade level in separate 
sessions.  From our 4-year-old preKindergarten students to our "ready for middle 
school" 5th graders, each student was engaged during Toni's time with them.  
 
Our preK students applauded when Toni's Little Loon character puppet dove to his 
Papa Loon, our 2nd grade students giggled at a picture of Toni's son upside down on 
the play equipment as a college student (he is an inspiration for characters in her 
books), and our 5th graders thrilled at having honest feedback on their writing 
choices during a "Show, Don't Tell" writing workshop.
 
To say that having Toni Buzzeo as our guest author was a "home run" author visit 
would not be overstating.  Worth every penny, Toni is personable, warm, 
professional, and inspiring.  Our students, teachers, and administrators gave me 
100% positive feedback, and our 3rd - 5th grade teachers told me they wished their 
students had the opportunity to spend more than an hour in their writing workshops 
with Ms. Buzzeo.
 
Have fundraisers, beg parents, plead your case to any funding sources you can 
find...Do whatever it takes to have Toni Buzzeo come to your school.  You will be 
investing in your students - and you'll get a remarkable rate of return!!
 
Feel free to contact me with any questions you have about the visit.  I am happy to 
discuss all of the details...but I'll warn you...I won't be able to give you 
pros AND cons.  There weren't any cons!!
