*Out of Obscurity, the Story of the 1939 Alexandria Library Sit-in *is a DVD
that tells the story of an organized sit-in/read-in that took place in
Alexandria Virginia in 1939.   African Americans living in Alexandria were
dismayed to learn that they could not use the new library that their tax
dollars funded.  Using interviews with the participants, original court
documents and photos, this DVD tells the story of a ground breaking event in
library history.  I had the pleasure of watching it last week.  I encourage
