Earlier today I saw that AVATAR has topped one billion dollars in ticket sales... It's disappointing to me, as a Native (Indigenous) woman and professor who studies appropriation and misrepresentation of Native peoples in works for children. AVATAR is no different than some of the popular children's books like BROTHER EAGLE SISTER SKY and TOUCHING SPIRIT BEAR. I don't have a lot to say about AVATAR, but if you're interested, its here: http://americanindiansinchildrensliterature.blogspot.com/2010/01/we-saw-avatar.html Debbie Visit my Internet resource: American Indians in Children's Literature http://americanindiansinchildrensliterature.net Debbie A.
