[LM_NET] Please share your thoughts on weeding and collection development...

Good morning all!  I'm prepping for a workshop on weeding and maintaining a
collection.  I'd appreciate it if you could share some knowledge with me...



If you are a newer librarian, could you share with me a couple of things:

·         What one thing do you wish you'd known about weeding and/or
selecting books?

·         What do you see as your biggest weeding challenge?

·         Is there any message that you wish you could give a librarian who
is leaving or retiring about weeding?



If you are a librarian with some experience to draw from, would you please
share with me any nuggets of wisdom that you've gleaned over the years?

·         What one piece of advice do you think is crucial for a new
librarian to know about weeding and/or selecting books?

·         Do you have any horror stories of what happened when you weeded
"that" book or the wonderful things that happened when you cleared off a
dusty old shelf and stocked it with fresh books for the students to
discover?

·         What do you see as your biggest weeding challenge?



Any other bits of wit and wisdom about weeding will also be cheerfully
accepted!
