The fifth grade students are beginning to research a Caldecott illustrator. This is being done in collaboration with our art teacher. The students will recreate a page in their assigned book in art using the medium(s) the illustrator used. In library, they will find out about the illustrator, the type of medium used, and basically analyze the art work throughout the book. The following is a great book to use with any Caldecott lesson. Art through children's literature: creative art lessons for Caldecott books Englebaugh, Debi. -----Original Message----- From: School Library Media & Network Communications [mailto:LM_NET@LISTSERV.SYR.EDU] On Behalf Of Shonda Brisco Sent: Monday, January 04, 2010 11:06 AM To: LM_NET@LISTSERV.SYR.EDU Subject: Re: TAR: Caldecott List of Art Medium Used To those who are interested (and aren't we all at this time of the year)....the website with the art medium used for the Caldecott winners is: http://www.nc3r.org/jlbocessls/caldecot.htm Since this website hasn't been updated for a while, I'd also be interested in learning the art medium used for the winning and honor books during the last five years. If no one is able to locate specific information on this topic to fill in the gaps, let me know. I often work with our art education faculty and one professor would LOVE to assign this type of project to her students---and it would be a great resource for us to continue sharing.
