Hi all- I'm throwing out ideas. I was looking at the book Running Out of Time by Haddix, about a girl who lives in a frontier villiage-or so she thinks until her mother tells her it's really 1996 and that there is medicine out there for the diphtheria outbreak going on in the village. Just that part of the story reminded me a lot of The Village, a movie by M. Night Shyamalan, in which people live in a 1800s village, but actually live in the current time. And when someone needs medical attention... you get the idea. The differences? In the movie there's a scary monster keeping all the villagers within the borders of the land the village is on. In the book it talks about the main character going out in the 1996 world and finding medicine for the sick villagers. Yet the premise of these stories have so much in common that the copyright hairs on the back of my neck started standing up. Can you think of any other stories that have striking yet unintentional similarities? TIA!
