There's a great article about the importance of our profession in the National 
School Boards Association publication for January.  I was able to get the full 
article through the MasterFile Premier database.  Here's a link to an excerpt:

This would be a great one to share with everyone possible, including administrators 
and school board members who might overlook it.  In this time of budget cuts, some 
look at us as expendable because we don't "help class size", or we're overlooked at 
classroom teachers.  It has some great points that we can use to advocate for the 
importance of our profession.
