We have 2nd graders watching the Twilight movies and then asking for the books
(which we DO not have and will not get - I tell them to go to the public library)
so I'm not worrying about the Percy Jackson series.  3-5 graders check them out
often and I've had no complaints from parents.

Subject: TARGET: Lightning Thief for K-4 School

Hi,

I am in a K-4 school and with the movie The Lightning Thief coming out in
February, many kids are asking about the book. Right now I do not have it in
my collection.

since the reviews I've read recommend it for grades 5 or 6 and above. I just
finished reading it and the only thing I found that might make it
questionable for grades 3 & 4

(very good readers) is the mention of the gods fathering children with
mortal women without being married. That is pretty much throughout the book.
I don't know if nine & ten year old kids will focus on this and if it will
cause a problem or not. If you have this book in your library & you have
primary aged children, what has your experience been?

Thanks!
