Kari, I took this out of Copyright Catechism: practical answers to everyday school dilemmas, 2005 p. 46 It would be violation against copyright for students to read a book into a tape recorder so that others may listen to it in a listening center. The recordings must only be made for identified handicapped individuals. (Basically, a medical professional must certify that the student is unable to use traditional print materials. Understand that making an audio copy of a book (also a phonorecord) is exactly the same, as far as the law goes, as making a photocopy of a book. Good Luck! Bill William L. Is it against copyright for students to read a book into a tape recorder so that others may listen to it in a listening center? If it is, why? Thank you so much and have a great weekend. -- Kari Besancon, School Librarian Paradise Professional Development School Las Vegas, Nevada klbesancon@gmail.com -------------------------------------------------------------------- Please note: All LM_NET postings are protected by copyright law.
