[LM_NET] California Certification/CBEST from out of state

Please advise. 
My daughter is studying to take the CBEST even though she has passed the Praxis 
tests(does this override the CBEST)?.  Please comment on experience with this 
process and advise for certification in California from out of state.

My daughter is flying today to the California area from Pennsylvania searching 
for a place to rent, to get to know the area this week and hopefully begin a job 
search for a long term sub position.  She is traveling with 3 people and one 
couple also relocating has 3 school age children.  Any school recommendations? 
They are elementary and middle school ages.

While in the area, they want to eat with the locals(any restaurant 
recommendations appreciated and go to supermarkets, etc. Checking on traffice 
and drive times from Fontana to Rancho Cucamonga, recreation areas. 

Please respond also if you are a PA, NJ, east "coast" transplant. Any comments 
are welcome.
Yes, they have been using the Internet, google earth, etc.
