Can you give us more information such as the age of the students and what you define as "advantage"? I am studying for my third masters, all of which have been done online, as well as having been involved in the Your School Library online conferences. As an adult in Australia, the online scenario suits me because time and distance are overcome and I am experienced in the online environment. But there are many for whom this is new and who are struggling with the lack of face-to-face contact to really tease out ideas in real time and all that that offers. Or are you talking about elementary or secondary students? There are hundreds of Australian students who do all their primary education online through the School of the Air http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/School_of_the_Air successfully. And there are proposals for senior secondary schools in the Australian Capital Territory (like Washington, DC) to amalgamate online to offer students access to subjects not available at their college because of the lack of numbers. Arguments can be put for and against, as no doubt you have discovered, but if you are wanting our experiences we need more information.
