This turned into a Target/HIT. Thank you to everyone who offered suggestions. Original question: Have been enjoying my iPad that my husband bought for me. I'm going nuts with the apps! <g>... Have found several apps that would be great tools to use in my library with the kids on the Smartboard. Is there any way to connect my iPad to the Smartboard and project the information to the board? Thanks! Replies: 1. I am sure there is a cord that you can connect with the computer. I connect my ipod. I would call radio shack or apple. 2. I have a friend who has researched this extensively, and unless they have come up with something in the last month, currently there is not a way to do it. She even talked with the Apple people who designed the iPad. I will be seeing her in a couple weeks and I'll check with her again to see if there has been any progress. Not only can you not connect to the SmartBoard, you cannot even connect it to a digital projector. 3. It will depend on the apps. I was going to show some apps in a workshop and bought the connection. According to Apple, it depends on whether the projection information is written into the app. Pages, Keynote, Numbers, and other Apple apps will project. 4. I did not think you could connect the IPAD to anything! Please let us all know what you find out ok? I hope I am wrong. 5. A very quick check of Mac forums say no to the connection. 6. It is possible to project the contents using the VGA adaptor for the iPad ($29.99). A future possibility is through the USB camera connector. During my refresher classes with smart this week, I inquired regarding apps for smart phones (including the iPod, iPhone and iPad). There was unofficial prospectives for these apps, although not known. I know there is more to come, as other interactive board manufacturers are working on this. I will be investigating the USB possibilities and apps for the board use. 7. My guess since I haven't worked with an iPad yet, would be to connect your iPad to your computer, then use the computer connected to the Smart Board for your display... Well, 3 replies say NO, you cannot connect them, and 4 replies suggested you COULD/SHOULD BE ABLE TO or CAN. Will have to investigate this VGA adaptor.
