*Please forgive duplicate postings and the length of this post* Hello all! After searching WorldCat and calling the school the author works at (no answer, they are probably not back from summer break yet) I have decided to cross my fingers and try to catalog these books myself. Thank you for all of the suggestions - maybe someone else with this problem will create a more "professional" record and I'll be able to update my own later. Notes on "No Excuses Universities" - No Excuses University is about exposing students to college symbolism. Along with the standards alignments, assessment and data analysis that seem to be all the rage right now, there is a real focus on promoting the idea that yes, students can and will go to college. There are college flags and banners hung on doors, partnerships forged between classrooms and universities, and even college chants. And "college" means any college; community colleges, state colleges, private schools, etc. They encourage the idea that going to college is a goal students should set and will attain. Second, NEU is not just for charter schools. My elementary school is public, and the school my principal instituted NEU at before is public - check out the story here http://bit.ly/aZzpBe. Every school in my district has a library (such as they are, but hey, at least children are able to come in and check books out). For more information about The No Excuses University Network and the TurnAround Schools Institute, go here: http://bit.ly/14Ad2S. I hope this alleviates some of the confusion I seem to have caused. Also, we are still in the first steps towards becoming an NEU school, so I guess we are still figuring it out as we go. I have decided to make moves towards my library being adopted by the same community college I am attending right now :) I'll hang banners, pennants and the like, and hopefully encourage some of the students to consider it as an option.
