Bibliotherapy was a huge thing when I first became a librarian 30+ years ago. I had a really nice reference-type book that was published around 1980 in my professional collection that I used for just these types of topics. There have been many times over the last 10-15 years that I wished I had that old book in my current library. I didn't realize until I no longer had it just how valuable a tool it really was. I think this is the book I am referencing. I know it was updated with additional volumes for several years. Bookfinder: A Guide to Children's Literature About the Needs and Problems of Youth Aged 2 to 15 by Sharon Spredemann Dreyer Ags Pub (first published June 1977) isbn0913476463 (isbn13: 9780913476468) Here are some websites that I have used recently that have been somewhat helpful. http://www.best-childrens-books.com/bibliotherapy.html http://librarybooklists.org/fiction/children/jbibliotherapy.htm -----Original Message----- From: School Library Media & Network Communications [mailto:LM_NET@LISTSERV.SYR.EDU] On Behalf Of Mary Wegher Sent: Tuesday, June 01, 2010 12:38 PM To: LM_NET@LISTSERV.SYR.EDU Subject: Target: Bibliotherapy Hello Wise Ones, The counselor at my school has asked for a list of books for bibliotherapy. I'm wondering if any of you know of any such lists? She specifically, at the moment, is looking for books about honesty and responsibility for a soon to be 6th grade girl. Any suggestions? Thanks so much!
