[LM_NET] TAR: International books - elementary

We hold our bookfair at a local bookstore every year. We have an "International" 
theme this year and I would like to find books that are popular in other countries 
for elementary-age children. I would like to have these books at our bookfair - the 
store
said they will most likely be able to get in what we request .

I am wondering if it's even possible to get books that are not mainstream here in 
the US. (I don't want to make it difficult for the bookstore). I know books like 
Pinkalicious are popular here (all girls school). I would love to see what books 
are all
the rage in other countries. And how often are popular International books 
available in English?

Does anyone have knowledge of this kind or experience with this?  Is there a web 
site or booklist somewhere were I could find this information?
