I agree with Mo Willems work as well, but I'm constantly going to my picture books
for terrific teaching examples, funny stories for read alouds, and short story
pieces to share history. I've gone to Judy Freeman's workshops for years, and she
ALWAYS gives me such great ideas for using picture format literature. Now, when
I'm looking over new publications I think with my "Judy-brain." Thanks for all
that you have taught me Judy!!

Last week I read -
Sweet Tooth
I Lost My Tooth in Africa
The Empty Pot
Shirley's Wonderful Baby
The Lion's Share
Robot Zot
Cactus Soup

Several of these were read in connection with a Social Studies or Health unit from
the classroom. They made for some very good lessons.

Ditto on the Elephant & Piggie. They are hands down the best early readers ever.

Jan Thomas is my other big favorite this year. She is so hilarious!

Amy Krouse Rosenthal (Little Pea, etc.) also should not be missed. We adore her
work.
