Here are the suggestions I received for magazines for 5th and 6th graders. Thanks
for the help and here is to hoping we can all buy magazines next year!

Dog Fancy & Cat Fancy, believe it or not, are great circulators

Discovery Girl

Sports Illustrated for Kids

I have grades 6-8 and would recommend American Girl, Tiger Beat, J-14, Bop, Dallas
Cowboys Star (we're in Texas), Sports Illus. for Kids, Nickolodeon, Shonen Jump
--HUGE readership among boys, but some girls read it, too. We have so many reading
it, that we check it out like a book. Anime Insider, Mad (we're a middle school)
Mad Kids --for your age group

Been a while since I've been with that grade level but I always took , Cobblestone
magazine. It could be for pleasure reading or research.

My husband, son, and grandsons are all RC model pilots. When I was a middle school
librarian, I took all of my husband's Tower Hobbies catalogs, Tower Talk, to my
library. The boys loved them so much that I had to put them behind the counter and
let them sign them out. They wanted to KEEP them. I did let them sign them out and
take them home for overnight. Those catalogs were always worn out before the next
one arrived to replace it. The nice thing is that those catalogs are free, but
there is quite a bit of reading to learn about the different models, engines, and
other componenets and supplies. The material (or hobby) is good for building
vocabulary.

Sports Illustrated
American Cheerleader
J-14
American Girl (maybe for 3-4 gr)

Sports Illustrated Kids
Boy's Life
New Moon is fairly popular with the girls
