Dear Ms. Sarles,

About.com has some good sites on the decades in U.S. history. The URL is :
http://history1900s.about.com/od/decadebydecade/Decade_By_Decade.htm

Another site, http://www.loc.gov/rr/print/swann/herblock/fire.html ,
features political cartoons relevant to the 1950s. and McCarthyism.

If you go to Infotopia (http://www.infotopia.info) and search for the term
`1950s', the top hit will be this one :

The Literature & Culture of the American 1950s
http://www.writing.upenn.edu/~afilreis/50s/home.html

Hope this helps.

Sincerely,
Michael Bell
