It was suggested that I post a hit of books for the 3rd grade boy reading on an 8th grade level. Hope you all can find this as helpful as I did. Many thanks to all of you who helped out and contributed! Martha (Marty) Vaughn Director, Holland Library Girls Preparatory School Chattanooga, TN martyv@gps.edu Here's what I've gotten so far: Madeline L'Engle Wrinkel in Time Pendragon series by D.J. McHale Maximum Ride books by Patterson Eragon series by Paolini Redwall series by Brian Jacques Books by T.A. Barron The Mysterious Benedict Society by Trenton Stewart Chasing Vermeer and Calder Game by Blue Balliett Hatchet, Brian's Winter, The Haymeadow by Gary Paulsen Gregor the Overlander by Suzanne Collins City of Ember series (DuPrau), Sea of Trolls series and The Ear, the Eye and the Arm (Farmer) Peter and the Starcatchers series (Barry) Lloyd Alexander's Chronicles of Prydain, beginning with The Book of Three The Hobbit, J.R.R. Tolkien Anything by Avi Inkheart, Inkdeath, Dragon Rider, Inkspell by Cornelia Funke Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snickett Enders's Game (and others) by Orson Scott Card Maximum Ride series by Patterson Secrets of Droon series by Abbott Wizard of Oz series by Baum The Children of the Red King series by Jenny Nimmo Ranger's Apprentice by John Flannaghan is awesome. Very clean and all about a little guy who learns that he is valuable with the help of a "teacher." There's 7 books in the series, and the series is medieval times, with a few monsters thrown in for good measure. The first is "Ruins of Gorlan." There's also the Alex Rider series by Horowitz. Boys LOVE it. -------------------------------------------------------------------- Please note: All LM_NET postings are protected by copyright law.
