Registration is now open for the June 23-24, 2010 Kansas Summer Institute for School Librarians. Please visit the website for the Registration Form and General Information. http://slim.emporia.edu/ Registration Fee: $100/person (lunches and snacks provided) 2010 Theme and Guest Presenters The theme this year is “New Tools for New Generations: Viable Tools for Effective Student Learning.” Day One will focus on technology tools and strategies. The keynote presenter is Buffy Hamilton, “The Unquiet Librarian.” Day Two will focus on books and reading. The guest author will be Mark Crilley, graphic novel author. Mark has written the book series, Miki Falls: Spring; Miki Falls: Autumn; Miki Falls: Summer; and Miki Falls: Winter, and more. We will also feature Kansas librarians who have experience promoting reading with graphic novels. Graduate Credit Graduate credit (1 credit hour) is available with additional application at http://www.emporia.edu/grad/appinstr.htm Graduate credit requires an additional separate tuition payment to Emporia State University. The course you will be enrolling is LI755XI Summer Institute for Library Media Specialists: Viable Tools for Effective Student Learning (1 credit hour). This course will focus on the conference theme and the presentations of guest speakers. There will be one assignment that will be turned in following the conference. All enrolled students must attend all conference sessions on June 23-24, 2010 (Wednesday night library tour is not required). The course instructor is Mirah Dow mdow@emporia.edu.
