[LM_NET] TARGET: SEC: Book with short essays about making good choices

Dear LM-Netters,

I am looking for a book or books that would have short (one or two page/s)
essays or speeches done by famous people on the theme of making making
good choices and the impact of these choices on my life.  Suggestions???

This is the email I received from the teacher 
"Hi, Pat , I will be teaching very low level reading level freshman next
year and my theme for the semester will be life choices:  How do the
choices I make impact my life?   Could you find some short essay format
selections I could copy for them in a page or two like Maya Angelou’s “New
Directions” essay.  Speeches would work well, too.  I would like the
essays written by famous people that could pique their interests."
