In the May 5, 2010 issue of Teacher Magazine there is an article
"Teaching Secrets: 10 To-Dos for New Teachers" by Marsha Ratzel. Number
8 is "Make an appointment to sit down with important building
specialists. If your building has a staffed library, see if you can meet
with the library media specialist to find out how you can best utilize
their resources. Even if the discipline you are teaching doesn't seem to
require library resources, you will be amazed at the things that are
possible and available if you only ask." I don't know what school she
teaches at or has taught at but someone did a great job teaching her
about the library!

"Books are the quietest and most constant of friends; they are the most
accessible and wisest of counselors, and the most patient of teachers."
