I have a friend who is writing a dissertation and needs a few titles of American literature, written after 1850 but before about 1925 that feature a hen-pecked husband as a main character. The man should be relatively powerless and pushed around by his wife, kids, parents, etc. The character can be serious or humorous. The plot does not have to resolve this issue. They can be from novels, plays, short stories. They have to be American, not British or other nationalities. Thanks in advance!!
