I would like to challenge our elementary staff (k-6) to read some newer books this summer - books that would make great read alouds for their students. Some of our veteran staff are stuck in the past, reading the award winning books they loved when they graduated from college 30 years ago. Those are certainly ok also, but I would like to get those teachers to incorporate some newer titles, too. I can look at the newbery lists and other award lists, but I was wondering if you have a list of RECENT great read alouds and what grade level you suggest for those titles. I will post a hit. Thanks "I really didn't realize the librarians were, you know, such a dangerous group. They are subversive. You think they're just sitting there at the desk, all quiet and everything. They're like plotting the revolution, man. I wouldn't mess with them."
