Two things. One to add to the list of excuses. I had a parent call me the other
day and wonder why she had received the mailed overdue notice because the book and
the magazine were in her son's locker. Guess I better add locker book retrieval to
my job description. Also, we check out our magazines in barcoded envelopes, and,
when his envelope came back, the magazine was not in it. I let it go. I'm just
one person in a long line of teacher who has the "pleasure" of a phone call from
this parent.
On the subject of books not coming back, I do everything I can, but ultimately it
is the taxpayers who lose out since they have to replace these books. I remind
students often that whatever happens in the library is their parents' tax money at
work.
I'm done for the summer, and am enjoying it already. Hopefully the rest of you
will be done soon. Happy summer.
