I represent the smallest of public school libraries. Our entire enrollment, K-12,
is fewer than 340 students. My 6-12 LMC has approx. 5,000 volumes, as does my
(separate) K-5 LMC.

At the high school, I am attempting to weed out the shelf-sitters from the 1970s.
This is representing quite a large percentage of my books! I am, of course, not
weeding by age alone, but also by circulation statistics, content of material, and
physical shape of the books. It should be noted that I DO HAVE THE SPACE to keep
all the books, but that would not be good collection development. (right?)

Somebody, please, tell me (I'm a lone ranger) that I am RIGHT to weed this
collection, even if it leaves my shelves much more bare than before. Or, thoughts
to the contrary are also welcome ...

Thank you!
