Without even getting into how appalled I am at a teacher tearing out a chapter she
didn't want to deal with...

I see quite a lot of requests like this on the list and I just have to ask: does
anyone else think this violates copyright? Or am I the only one?

Fair Use allows a one-time use of a limited portion in a classroom setting. It also
requires that your use does not deny sales to the copyright holder. Requests like
these are for a long-term use in a non-classroom setting, AND they make it so you
don't have to replace the damaged book.

So as far as I understand, this is not legal. If someone else knows this to be
incorrect, could you please explain it to me?

I know what budgets are like, but this really pings my meter. If a student damages
a book, they should pay to replace it; likewise for a teacher.

Subject: one more try: chapter 30 of killing brittany

I thought I would try this one more time. Anyone have chapter 30 of Killing
Brittany I could have a copy of? Fax or email would be great!

We have some copies of Killing Brittany with Chapter 30 torn out. I think the
reading teacher who used the books last year didn't want to deal with whatever is
in chapter 30 but....Could someone please fax me a copy of chapter 30?

Thanks!
