You and Pam have made my day!! Sometimes I think I should be doing more than
"just" reading to the kids and setting up displays of, and talking about, books
they might otherwise pass up in favor of Arthur, Curious George, and other
"standard" titles pushed by teachers (not that there's anything wrong with any book
that gets a kid into reading), but they are probably the best ways to introduce the
goodies. There are so many gems out there and in our collections, and it's a great
feeling when the youngsters are enthusiastic about the books I read and want to
borrow them, and then tell their friends about what I've recommended.

If that makes me a radical, too, I'm proud of it!

 "Books
have three of the deadliest foes

on this Earth:

fire, water, and ignorant men...

...books are the finest treasures of all.

You need only feast once with your eyes

and your heart.

And you'll be full with their wisdom

forever." (Melanie Little, The Apprentice's Masterpiece)

"Librarians...have been my lifelong friends, guides and
heroes." Joseph Bruchac
