We recently purchased new copies of Eric Carle books through Demco. Draw me a star is a wonderful book but our teachers are uncomfortable with the picture of a man and woman in this book that are naked. They are done in Carle style: collaged tissue paper. Do any of you have this book in your library? How do you handle the teacher/parent complaints or student giggles. We have thought about covering the figures with swimming suits, or scanning the page and photo shopping the female and male parts out. But is that a copyright infringement? Is it just easier to discard the book. Our art teacher is willing to help create the page so not much is different. I know. a form of censorship. Imagine how our art teacher felt. I am trying to avoid ruffled feathers. I would appreciate your comments.
