Since 1990, Fairfax Network, a division of the Fairfax County Public Schools (VA)
has been involved in the exciting field of distance learning. The Network is a
nationally recognized producer of quality educational programs. Our programs are
distributed, free of charge, via satellite and online video streaming.
Fairfax Network's Meet the Author series is a live, interactive television show.
During the half-hour program, authors describe their approach to the writing
process, talk about character development, and sometimes share a sneak peek at
their books not yet published. Throughout the program, students are invited to
call in with questions, inspiring lively and impromptu responses from the authors.
Students have met over 90 writers and illustrators, including Avi, Ginger and
Frances Park, Jackie Urbanovic, Will Hobbs, Christopher Paul Curtis, Walter Dean
Myers, Kalli Dakos, Lemony Snicket, Stuart J. Murphy, Fred Bowen, Mary Pope
Osborne, and Jennifer L. Holm.
