Lately I've been feeling quite beat up regarding the library services we offer in
my middle school library, particularly reader's advisory. I feel that pairing
students to books they are interested in is so very important and not something
that any warm body can successfully do. I also think the other literature
promotion activities we do - book release parties, Battle of the Books, our after
school book club, etc - are equally important. Yet I get the strong sense that
unless I'm teaching (which I do as often as the teachers are willing to work with
me) the professionals in my building think I'm either A) not doing anything at all
or B) not doing anything important, like reader's advisory or planning events.

Has anyone else experienced this miserable feeling? How did you overcome it? I
feel like I do a good job of promoting my activities and services to both students
and teachers, so I don't know that more promoting is the answer.

Thoughts?

Thanks,
Angela
