Hello, Haverhill Public Schools system has posted a library
coordinator job and an anticipated library media specialist job.
I will also be leaving to return to Maine so they will have two openings!
I think we have fought the fight and won. There are 21 elementary and
middle schools in the city. Four are brand-new schools, all the
latest technology, new libraries and Mac environments. (circ system
not quite decided yet for the two schools to open in the fall. I have
Winnebago) Three years ago I was hired and my coordinator and I have
spent these three years modeling what libraries should look like.
The prinicipal and my staff are wonderful and we have spread the
word that a LMS is involved in literacy projects, technology assistance,
report writing, curriculum (frameworks), etc, etc. It is incredible
that few people know the difference between an aide and a LMS!

Today I recommend these jobs to those interested in very busy lives
in school libraries that truly are looking to implement Information
Power. The politics are still there, but the principals, staff, and
students in these new buildings are awesome and supportive.
