Dear all( especially plant lovers)-

I came up with a great idea for a Spring book activity. Get a copy of
Lois Ehlert's Planting a Rainbow (available in paperback too). Go to the
local nursery and get small plants in the colors of the rainbow. Place
them in a long planter in rainbow order. Cover the pots with spanish
moss for an arty look. After telling the story you can give the children
the names of each plant and follow up with some gardening books. It will
make a nice display on a sunny windowsill until the end of school. Then
you get to take them home and enjoy for the rest of the summer.
I feel like Miss Rumphius here.
