I have a student looking for the author of the short story "The Soldier". This is the story where a young man corresponds with someone who's name he found in the front of a library book. He is sent off to war, but arranges to meet her at a train station. She should be holding/wearing a red rose. When he gets to the station there is a young beautiful woman, without a rose, but behind her is an over 40 lady with a rose. When he introduces himself, she tells him she is just holding the rose for another and he should go to the cafe across the street to meet her. It turns out to be the young woman. Any suggestions?
