Hi all. I am a member of our district email's committee and we have recently had a staff member e-mail all district staff from A to D (using the district address book) regarding a way to make money. An excerpt from the message is as follows: > About a week ago now, 1 of our members sent me an email about a company > that > pays you to be connected to the internet. I thought it was probably BS > but, > I was curious and went to the site. The site looked well constructed so I > said what the heck, I spend a lot of time on the Internet so I might as > well > get paid for it. I figured if I make enough to cover my Internet costs I > would be happy. There was a section in the site that explained about a > referral program, so after much deliberation I sent an email out to > several > of my colleagues. Two days later I had 20 sign ups. I started laughing > because now I have more than covered my Internet costs. I now have 82 > members signed up and I am scheduled to receive a check for about $500.00 > every month. This is after one week. I can't wait to see what it will be > like in a month from now. > > Our guideline committee is in its first year. I am interested in knowing how other school districts would handle such an incident. Kathy Thomson Teacher-Librarian S.
