Many of you may not have seen my January 2 request for your vote for the Newbery medal, perhaps because you were set to vacation no-mail. If so, here's the request again: Looking back over 1998, what was your favorite 1998 children's book, as far as the TEXT is concerned? (The Newbery is usually given to fiction, but can be biography, poetry, etc. The author must be an American.) I will compile a hit by January 18. If you list more than one title, please rank them.
