Friends, This search would be much easier if I knew the name of the map I need. I am looking for information about and a reproduction of one of those maps used by the ancient polynesian navigators. They are made of strips of wood, bamboo, pandanus rib, or something else, tied together at the joints and every now and then (at what I believe are significant points)there is a shell or small stone. I'm sure many of you have seen them, though some of you may not have known what it was. I've found lots of information on other old maps but not this kind. I'm sure I could find one if I just knew what to call it. Any ideas?
