Dear Susan Due to our predominantly British/ European background, the version of Cinderella told here is the same as the one by Perrault. And the traditional version of fairy tales such as Snow White, Hansel and Gretel etc are also the basis of nursery literature. There are some Aboriginal stories from the Dreaming such as The Rainbow Serpent and Tiddalik that kids learn when they get to school, but our indigenous people were of many tribes each with their own language and traditions. There are many Australian children's classics that our children grow up with though such as Snugglepot and Cuddlepie, Blinky Bill, Storm Boy and of course, Possum Magic. Children's literature is booming here with hundreds of authors and thousands of stories and I must confess that the only item in your list of stories that I have heard of is the author/artist Robert Ingpen. Please let me know if I can help you further, Cheers Barbara Barbara Braxton Teacher Librarian Palmerston District Primary School PALMERSTON ACT 2913 AUSTRALIA T. 02 6205 6162 F. 02 6205 7242 E. barbara@dynamite.com.au W. http://www.palmdps.act.edu.au "Together, we learn from each other." =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-= All postings to LM_NET are protected under copyright law.
